The Atonement of Jesus Christ

There is no sin or transgression, pain or sorrow, which is outside of the healing power of His Atonement.

Jesus Christ did for us what we could not do for ourselves.

The Atonement is the supreme expression of our Heavenly Father’s love for us. His son, Jesus Christ was the only one capable of making a perfect atonement for all mankind.

The Atonement consists of  Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection.

Through the Atonement, we can receive forgiveness, healing, and hope of life with God.

Vocabulary:

Atonement - The Savior's suffering, death, and Resurrection through which He made the way for us to return to God.

Sin - Deliberate disobedience to God's commandments.

Affliction - A source or experience of distress or suffering.

Infirmity - A weakness or limitation.

Temptation - An enticement to choose something contrary to God's commandments.

Repentance - Turning toward God and away from sin; through Jesus Christ, repentance makes forgiveness possible.

Succor - In Alma 7:12, Christ's ability to help and support His people because He knows mortal suffering and weakness.

Grace - Divine help or strength extended to us through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
